Crooks Fire near Arlee reaches 1,000 acres
ARLEE — The Crooks Fire located in the south fork Jocko Primitive area is burning in steep rough terrain with limited access. The lightning-caused fire had spread to 1,000 acres and was 0% contained Monday.
A local type 3 organization is managing the blaze.
In anticipation of large fire growth and critical fire weather, indirect work is being done in preparation, should the fire move to a position to threaten resources and structures.
St. Mary’s to the North Fork is closed, as is the main Jocko Road (1000 Road) at the 3000 Road junction. No structures are threatened and no evacuation orders were in effect Monday.
