Ninepipes Museum on Highway 93 north of St. Ignatius will hold a First Saturday event this weekend. Two artists will show their art and meet with visitors outside from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and offer their work for sale.

Joshua Marceau was raised in Charlo and studied at Salish Kootenai College. It was at SKC that he was introduced to silversmithing in a class taught by fine arts instructor Frank Finley. Marceau went on to receive a Ph.D. in biomedical science from the University of Montana. He works in virus research, but continues to enjoy the craft of silversmithing.

Marceau creates unique handmade jewelry, bolo ties and other pieces from sterling silver and gemstones such as turquoise and jade, and even elk antlers.

He offers his wares online at nativeamericansilversmith.com.

Patsi Pohle is a local painter with a BFA from the Academy of Art in San Francisco. Working in acrylics and oils, she often uses a putty knife to create “texture and color to bring the viewer into the painting,” according to her website. She enjoys capturing the “rich textures and vibrant colors inherent in nature in scenes of Rocky Mountain snow-capped peaks, golden leafed aspens, and meandering streams.” She will be showing “contemporary fine art for inside your home and year round.”
