Polson hosts housing crisis discussion
The city of Polson has scheduled an “Honest Conversation About Housing,” during which attendees can discuss strategies with city staff and members of the Polson Commission. The event is scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19 at Blodgett Creamery, 325 Main St. in Polson.
Themes of the discussion will include the difficulty of finding affordable housing, loss of workers and loss of rental homes due to real estate sales.
Those interested in attending should RSVP by emailing BP@cityofpolson.com to reserve a seat.
Flathead Monster presentation at the library
Karen Dunwell from the Polson Flathead Lake Museum will present “Busting the Monster Myth: Flathead Monster Reports and Sightings” at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug.19 at 5:30 p.m. in the library’s large meeting room.
Dunwell will discuss some of the sightings and share the history of the Flathead Monster. The programs will have limited attendance, so come early for a seat. Chairs will be distanced apart. Masks are always welcome, but not required.
Summer seminar at Lake Mary Ronan
The Friends of Lake Mary Ronan is holding a summer seminar from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21 at the Proctor Community Center, 21935 Proctor School Road.
MIke Koopal of the Whitefish Lake Institute will discuss septic leachate pollution, with a focus on a 2022 Lake Mary Ronan synthetic DNA study. Fish Wildlife and Parks biologist Kenneth Breidinger will talk about fisheries trends and the possibility of pike at Lake Mary Ronan. And Friends of Lake Mary Ronan President Jim Baker will lead a conversation on recent projects and future goals.
The event includes a free drawing.

Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana invites old friends and new to a summertime event at the beautiful Sky Ridge Ranch from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9.
