Butte Central forfeits football season opener at Polson
Officials at Butte Central High School announced over the weekend that the school’s football program will not travel to Polson for a season-opening game scheduled for Friday, Aug. 27.
Instead the Pirates will host the junior varsity squad of class AA Glacier High School at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Butte Central officials cited the suspension of “a group of student-athletes on the team for violating athletic department and school policies,” according to a press release issued Saturday by school President Don Peoples. The forfeit means the Maroons’ season will now open Sept. 3 in Browning.
“Butte Central High School would like to extend its apologies to Polson High School for the cancellation and would like to emphasize the importance of following athletic department and school policies,” the release states.
