Fire restrictions lifted on Flathead Indian Reservation
Fire managers across the Flathead Indian Reservation have rescinded Stage I and Stage II fire restrictions, effective Wednesday morning.
Widespread precipitation has lowered the fire danger to high and has provided much needed relief for firefighters across western Montana.
While fire danger has lessened, fire season in the Northern Rockies is not over. Warm, dry conditions will return to the area by midweek, and fuel moisture content of large diameter material on the forest floor will remain as available fuel for wildfires.
Debris burning is closed until Oct. 1, when weather conditions will provide more security against the chance of burning debris piles escaping.
With restrictions lifted, campfires are allowed and internal combustion engines may be used without restrictions.
