Free Christmas concert by the lake

The Montana ShamRockers will perform a free Christmas concert starting at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10 at Polson’s Theatre on the Lake, along Golf Course Road near Boettcher Park.

The family-friendly show will include a mix of traditional and original holiday tunes, a few laughs and some surprises. A freewill offering is suggested.

MVAS online auction ends Friday

The Mission Valley Animal Shelter is holding an online auction of donated items to benefit shelter programs. The auction is live and ends Friday, Dec. 10. Dozens of items are up for auction, including pet products, decor items, food and wine, health products and travel packages. Visit https://tinyurl.com/2p9exd3d to view the auction.

Choral Society performances this weekend

The Mission Valley Choral Society has a few free performances this week. The first begins at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11 at the Mission Church in St. Ignatius. The group also will perform at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Polson High School auditorium.

Lights Under the Big Sky

At 5 p.m. Dec. 10, 11, 17 and 18, the Lights Under the Big Sky crew will flip the switch, and the fairgrounds in Ronan will light up the night until 9 p.m.

Santa Claus will be in residence every night at 5:30 p.m. except Dec. 18, when Santa will appear in the Ronan Parade of Lights and arrive to step out of his sleigh at 6:30 p.m. at the fairgrounds.

Toys for Tots boxes will be available on the fairgrounds if you’d like to make a child’s Christmas brighter. Just drop a new, unwrapped toy in the box and Toys for Tots personnel and the U.S. Marines will deliver them.

Tickets for all this holiday cheer are $4 per adult or $20 for a family of six. Children age 4 and younger get in free.

Ronan Parade of Lights

The annual Christmas parade in Ronan, sponsored by the Ronan Area Chamber of Commerce, begins at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17. The parade will go down Main, through town, back on Round Butte, then end at Lights Under the Big Sky. Candy will only be handed out on Main Street, and no walking or biking entries will be allowed beyond Main. Olszewski to visit local Pachyderms

Dr. Al Olszewski is the guest speaker at the Dec. 10 Pachyderm meeting, which will be held 11:30 a.m. in the main room at the Polson Boys and Girls Club, 107 Eighth Ave. W, Polson. The meeting is scheduled to go until 1 p.m., and complimentary coffee and cookies will be available.

Olszewski is running for Montana’s new U.S. Congressional seat. He will be available for a Q&A.

Advent services at Good Shepherd

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 409 Fourth Ave E, Polson, is hosting Advent worship services Wednesday evenings through Dec. 22. Services include a soup supper at 5:30 p.m. and Holden Evening Prayer worship at 6:15. There also will be Christmas Eve candlelight communion services at 4 and 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 24.

Elks looking to help military families

Mission Valley Elks Lodge 1695 is on a mission to help two military families this upcoming holiday season. The military families must reside in Lake County and must have/had a spouse deployed sometime within the last two years. Please provide a maximum two paragraph letter stating that you meet the requirements, then tell us a little bit about your family. Include a contact phone number.
