The Class A swim season kicked off for Polson at home last weekend, at the same site where last season came to an end.

Polson hosted the first meet of the season Saturday, when five teams competed at the Polson Invite at the Mission Valley Aquatic Center, site of last year’s Class A state meet.

Havre walked away with the girls team title, and Columbia Falls took the boys title. The Polson girls finished third, while the boys finished fourth.

Polson saw the most success in the distance events. Three girls placed in the top five in the 500 yard freestyle. Hope Morrison was second, Dixie Montgomery was third and Kaija Adams was fifth. The 400 freestyle relay team of Morrison, Montgomery, Aspen McKee and Hailey Hanson finished second to Whitefish.

Other top individual finishers for Polson included Trey Wyman, third in the 200 freestyle; McKee, second in the 200 individual medley; Hailey Hanson, eighth of 25 in the 50 freestyle; Morrison, first in the 100 butterfly; and Lachlan Sloan, third in the 100 butterfly and first in the 500 freestyle.

Polson will compete at the Kalispell Invitational on Saturday.
