Basketball Roundup: Returning players boost Scarlets

The Arlee girls basketball team earned its first win of the season Saturday at home against Deer Lodge, thanks in part to the season debut of senior Halle Adams and junior Cheyenne Pablo. The two veterans had been on the bench the entire season after joining the team late and being forced to amass the required number of practices to play.

Pablo led Arlee with 10 points and seven rebounds in the 49-42 victory, while Leiloni Butler scored eight. The Scarlets (1-6) pulled away late with 33 second-half points, including 17 in the final period.

Adams scored six points in her return and grabbed three rebounds. Raven Parson and McKirah Fisher each scored seven, and Parson added seven rebounds.

Eight Arlee players contributed at least two points.

Arleeā€™s home game against Anaconda on Thursday was postponed to Feb. 12.

Maidens blow by Lady Pirates late

The Ronan girls outscored visiting Polson 21-0 in the fourth period en route to a 70-29 result on Friday night in Ronan.

The Maidens (6-3) have won six of their last seven games but are headed on the road for four straight, starting with a game at Arlee on Tuesday night after the Leader went to press.

LaReina Cordova scored 16 for Ronan, while Jaylea Lunceford added 12 points, eight rebounds and four steals. Lexi Wirz scored 11 for the Maidens, and teammate Leina Ulutoa scored 10 to go with seven rebounds.

The Lady Pirates were led by Jazlyn Dalbey with 10 points and McKenna Hanson with six.

Dillon 63, Polson 30

At Dillon on Thursday, Polson had one of its most productive offensive games in several seasons, led by Mossy Kauley with 10 points and six rebounds. After scoring just two points each in the first two quarters, they poured in 17 in the third.

Bulldogs win a pair of nail-biters

Zoran LaFrombois hit a full-court buzzer-beater to end the third period and boost the Mission boys to a 70-67 home victory over Eureka on Saturday night. The Hail Mary shot was part of a 25-point third period for the Bulldogs (8-3). LaFrombois finished with 24 points and six steals. He hit 4 of 12 3-pointers. Ross McPherson added 15 points and nine rebounds, and John Komotios scored 14.

Mission 50, Deer Lodge 49

Zoran LaFrombois led Mission with 18 points as the Bulldogs held on for the win Friday night at Deer Lodge. Ross McPherson added 15 points and eight rebounds, while Isaiah Nasewytewa contributed nine points and four rebounds.

Lady Bulldogs go 1-1

The Mission girls played two games on the road last week, falling 55-49 at Eureka and winning 49-23 at Deer Lodge.

Sydney Brander had 19 points and seven rebounds in the loss Saturday, while Gabby Smith scored eight points. Madyson Currie added seven points and six rebounds for Mission (6-5)

Brander led the way with 21 points in the win Friday at Deer Lodge.

Warriors fall at Deer Lodge

Levi Fullerton scored nine points for Arlee (0-6), while Micah Johnson contributed eight and Jake Knoll added six in a loss on the road Saturday. The Warriors also got five points each from Trey Malatare, Hunter Brown and Ben Harlow.
