Girls Basketball Roundup: Lady Vikings run the table
Mila Hawk scored a game-high 12 points as Charlo (11-0) wrapped up a perfect regular season with a 49-25 win at St. Regis on Friday night.
The Lady Vikings defense has allowed more than 30 points in a game just twice all season — 31 from Clark Fork and 41 from Noxon.
Kassidi Cox and Liev Smith both scored eight points in the win. Carlee Fryberger had seven points, eight rebounds and five steals. Connor Fryberger pulled down eight rebounds.
Charlo will host a 14-C district semifinal game Thursday night against either Plains or St. Regis.
Maidens fall at Whitefish
Ronan (8-5) lost a key conference game at Whitefish on Tuesday, Feb. 9. The Bulldogs came out strong with a 19-8 run in the first and never looked back.
The loss makes securing a No. 2 seed for district play far less likely.
The Maidens had a chance to avenge the loss at home Tuesday night as the Leader went to press.
Ari Burke led Ronan with eight points, while LaReina Cordova added five points and three steals.
The Maidens bounced back with a 52-43 win in a nonconference matchup at Stevensville on Saturday.
Jaeleigh Gatch notched a career-high nine rebounds to go with 18 points, while Jaylea Lunceford recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Dani Coffman contributed seven points, five rebounds and four steals. Madeline McCrea had five blocks on defense to go with three rebounds.
Loyola overwhelms Scarlets
Arlee (1-10) had a rough night in a 71-9 loss at home to Missoula Loyola on Tuesday, Feb. 9. Loyola (12-3) is ranked No. 6 in the state by 406MTSports.com.
Lark Thomas led Arlee with four points. Raven Parson added three points, and Xaria Jacobson scored two.
