Mason Sloan took first place in the 200-yard freestyle and second in the 100 breaststroke for the new Polson High School swim team Saturday at the Cat/Dog Invitational in Kalispell.

Polson’s girls and boys teams finished last in team standings, but Pirate swimmers are focused on individual events this season since they don’t have many members. The team didn’t compete in any relay events Saturday.

Sloan won the 200 freestyle in 1:57.85, nearly 4 seconds better than second-place finisher Issac Kelm of Great Falls High. In the 100 breaststroke, he finished 0.09 seconds behind Isaac Bertrand of Flathead High School.
