The Polson wrestling team stood toe to toe with Dillon during a four-team home meet at the high school gym on Friday night, and when the dust settled each team came away with the bittersweet taste of a draw.

Four of the night’s 13 varsity matches between the two teams were forfeited, two in Polson’s favor, one for Dillon and one double forfeit.

Each of the nine other matches ended in a fall. The Pirates trailed by 12 points going into the final two matches, at 205 pounds and 285. Polson’s Jamison Webster pinned Jesse Hughes at 205, then teammate Aaron O’Roake got a pin at 285 to level the team scores.

The Pirates’ other wins in the dual match came from Micah Craig at 120 pounds and Caleb Pierre at 152 pounds.

In the night’s other duals, Polson defeated Stevensville 54-12 and routed Butte Central, 60-6, though the Maroons brought just three wrestlers.

Against Stevensville, Craig earned a second pin at 120 in a win over Gunnar Larson. The Pirates’s Maysn Cowell won by fall against William Chiaverini at 126. Pierre and O’Roake also secured two more pins against the Yellowjackets.

In the lone varsity match with Butte Central that wasn’t decided by forfeit, Webster got another pin for Polson at 205, over the Maroons’ John Crossman.
