Paul Edwin Sweatt, 72

| July 8, 2021 3:00 PM

Paul Edwin Sweatt, age 72, passed away June 30, 2021 at St. Luke Community Healthcare. Paul was born April 18, 1949 at home in Holly Grove, Ark., to Alfred and Ernestine Sweatt. He traveled to Montana and arrived here in 1967.

Paul worked in the forestry industry, logging for Pack River Lumber, and finally landed a job at Plum Creek Timber, where he worked for 35 years. His co-workers knew not to mess with him. He would say, “I can kick your ass.”

Paul met the love of his life, Kathryn Ereaux, and they were married June 12, 1970. Paul and Kathy celebrated 51 years together. Their first daughter arrived in May of 1971, and two more daughters followed to make their family complete. Then Beau, Paul and Kathy’s nephew became a part of their life for a while. Then four grandkids came along, and Papa had names for all of them: Snorky, Tyler Man, Running Deer and Daniel Boone. Those grandkids were his delight. He so enjoyed their company, either fishing, camping or rafting the Flathead River. Papa taught the grandkids how to fish. He would always say, “Now don’t forget what I taught you.” The times he looked forward to most were when his daughters and family would take him rafting on the river.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Ernestine Sweatt, and one brother, Gene Sweatt. He is survived by three sisters: Thelma Ann Young, Kay Vandergriff and Sandy Ross; one brother, Phillip Sweatt; wife of 51 years, Kathy; three daughters and their families: Debbie (Mike) and sons Tyler and Daniel, Christie (John) and Amanda (Doug) and children Courtney and Justin; nephew Beau (Katie) and children Maggie and Tyson.

Services were held July 2.
