CSKT: Just one active fire not fully contained
Officials with the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes reported they had one active fire as of Tuesday morning.
Hot and dry conditions are expected to continue this week, and the Flathead Indian Reservation has moved to extreme fire danger.
The Little Money2 Fire is a Type 3 incident located 2 miles west of Perma. The fire was 35% contained Tuesday and is burning in steep, rocky terrain. The Painted Rocks (Camas 1300 road), Camas 1000 road and the Camas 2000 roads are closed due to the fire.
The following fires have been 100% contained:
The King’s Fire is a Type 4 incident located 4 miles southwest of Dixon. It covers 7 acres.
The Jette Fire is a Type 5 human-caused fire and is under investigation. It is located 4 miles northwest of Polson and it covers 1 acre.
The Flathead River Fire is located 1 mile west of Sloan’s bridge. This Type 5 fire covering half and acre was caused by fireworks.
The Brown’s Fire is located 8 miles west of Elmo. It was started by haying equipment and covers 40 acres.
Farmers need to be vigilant when working in their fields. With the high temperatures and low relative humidities, any type of spark can turn into a wildfire. Make sure you have a water source close by and cut early in the morning.
