Polson concert raises funds for families of the missing
Local speakers and musicians came together July 5 to promote awareness of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons crisis.
Speakers included CSKT member and boxing champion Ken Camel; CSKT member Mike Kenmille, uncle of “Rosie” Kenmille; CSKT MMIP qorkgroup members Pastor Melanie Martin Dent and Misala Peo-Nelson; and CSKT Council candidate Jennifer Finley.
Musicians included CSKT member Gen Huitt, Linda McKenzie and Kenny Lee Lewis and Frenz, who rocked the KwaTaqNuk patio with high-energy tunes and a performance of the song “Missing,” penned by Huitt and McKenzie, and collaboratively recorded by them along with Lewis.
The crowd raised approximately $1,000 in donations to benefit the Snowbird Fund, which provides monetary assistance for families searching for their missing members.
