USA summer softball Lady Pirates finish second at Kalispell

At Kalispell this past weekend during Emeralds Smash softball tournament action, the high school-age Lady Pirates of Polson routed their way to the championship, but were capsized by the 16U Spokane Diamonds all-star team, 9-2.

Though the Lady Pirates summer squad found base runners hard to come by through five innings, they managed to load the bases with nobody out in the bottom half of the sixth as the bottom of the order all reached safely.

Leadoff Katelyne Druyvestein hit a sacrifice fly to center field to drive in the first run. But the Diamonds took out the lead runners on force outs to limit the damage.

The USA Lady Pirates have advanced to the championship in both their tournaments this season. The team will travel to Great Falls this weekend for the Falls Fusion Classic.
