Dayton kids enjoy skate day at Lake Mary Ronan
Friends of Lake Mary Ronan, with a mission “to protect the environment and promote responsible land use planning for the surrounding area," held a skate party Friday for students of Dayton Elementary School in the boat ramp area at Lake Mary Ronan.
The group built an ice skating rink, a Corn-Hole game, sledding hills, concessions and a bonfire. Hot chocolate, hot dogs, cookies and s'mores were served.
Dayton Elementary Parent-Teacher's Organization President Karyn Thornton turned out nearly 70 parents, faculty members and students for the event.
The group will co-host with Dayton Elementary PTO a tree-planting and education event in May intended to teach students the role a forest plays in the drainage flowing into Lake Mary Ronan.
