Local students receive Reach Higher Montana scholarships
Montana students from Libby to Wyola – and many communities in between – have been selected to receive the Reach Higher Montana Scholarship for use in the 2021-2022 academic year. Scholarships must be used at accredited Montana colleges (two-year, four-year, public, private, tribal, and vocational institutions).
The following Lake County area students were selected to receive $1,000 scholarships:
- Brooklyn Kenelty, Ronan High School graduate attending Carroll College
- Samantha Brooks, Ronan High School graduate attending Salish Kootenai College
- Bellicia Hawk, Charlo High School graduate attending Carroll College
- Haylee Hoff, Hot Springs High School graduate attending Salish Kootenai College
- Melissa Paulsen, Bigfork High School graduate attending the University of Montana
- Zevan Walker, Polson High School graduate attending Flathead Valley Community College
- Whitney Barr, Polson High School graduate attending Montana State University
The Reach Higher Montana Scholarship program annually awards 81 scholarships of $1,000 each to Montana students. The complete list of scholarship winners is available at www.ReachHigherMontana.org.
PHS students can apply for PSEF scholarships
The Polson Scholarship and Education Foundation (PSEF) is accepting applications for scholarships this spring for Polson High School graduates.
The scholarships are for an accredited four-year, two-year, community college or vocational program.
Qualifications vary with each scholarship. All students are encouraged to apply as these scholarships are for every type of student with various GPAs.
The application is available online at the Polson High School website. It is also available at Polson Scholarship and Education Foundation’s Facebook page.

Morgan completes sociology degree
Matthew Morgan, of Polson, recently was among 500 students to receive a degree for the fall 2020 semester at The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Morgan earned a bachelor of science in sociology.
