Man arrested in Pablo shooting enters guilty plea
A man involved in a Dec. shooting in Pablo pleaded guilty to two counts of felony assault with a weapon as part of a plea agreement March 4 in Lake County District Court.
Joshua Franklin McGreevey, 32, was arrested the night of Dec. 4 after two people were shot in a residence on Whispering Pines Drive.
According to court documents, McGreevey descended the stairs of the residence and fired a .40 caliber pistol, hitting a man in the abdomen and a woman in the leg. Witnesses said the attack was unprovoked.
McGreevey fled the residence and admitted to a witness that he shot the two people, then attempted to hide the weapon at a nearby residence. Lake County law enforcement officers eventually found the weapon.
McGreevey later admitted to officers during an interview that he shot the two people. He originally was charged with two counts of attempted deliberate homicide. He also faced a count of felony tampering with or fabricating physical evidence for hiding the gun.
Both shooting victims are recovering from the wounds. The woman suffered no damage to her bones or organs, prosecutor Brendan McQuillan said during the March 4 hearing. He said the man’s wound to the abdomen was superficial.
Judge Deborah “Kim” Christopher set sentencing for May 13. Assault with a weapon carries a maximum sentence of 20 years and a fine of $50,000.
