Ronan child care center grand opening is Saturday

Little Child Development Center, a new day care service in Ronan, is hosting a grand opening event from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 13.

Owner Tonie Smothers recently moved to the area from Austin, Texas. She’s worked in the childcare industry for nearly 30 years.

Smothers purchased the building at 404 Main St., next to the bowling alley in Ronan, for her new business. The event is open to the public and will include balloons, face painting, sensory activities and tours of the new facility.

Before moving to Texas in 2000, Smothers lived on a ranch in Dell, Mont., near Dillon.

Smothers has a sister who lives in Polson. She said she came back to Montana because Texas was “too hot” and she loves her new daily view of the Mission Mountains.
