Zero waste webinar series launches this spring
A six-part webinar series titled “Beyond Recycling: Making Zero Waste Work” launches this spring and is free to anyone who wishes to attend the virtual workshop.
The series will be hosted by Climate Smart Glacier County, an organization that, according to its website, focuses on finding solutions to climate change challenges.
The goal of the series, which is sponsored by the Whitefish Community Foundation, is to “learn, share and discuss how to make zero waste a reality,” a news release stated. The Zero Waste International Alliance defines the concept of zero waste as “the conservation of all resources by means of responsible production, consumption, reuse, and recovery of products, packaging, and materials without burning and with no discharges to land, water, or air that threaten the environment or human health.”
Registration for the event is free and attendees will have an opportunity to win gift cards from a variety of sustainable local businesses through a raffle drawing at each session. Each webinar will feature expert panelists for Q&A sessions and professional consultation.
The schedule and topics for the series thus far is as follows:
• March 31 — “The What, Why, How of Zero Waste” with Helena Citizen Conservation Board and Missoula’s Zero by 50 and Home Resource
• April 28 — “Compost and Organic Waste” with Happy Trash Can and the City of Bozeman
• May 26 — “Zero Waste Businesses: Making Them Work.”
• June 30 — “Innovators in Zero Waste”
• Sept. 29 — “Zero Waste Communities in Action”
• Oct. 27 — “Circling Back: Where Do We Go From Here?”
Registration must be completed in advance of each session and attendees can join any and all
sessions. To sign up and for more information, visit the Climate Smart Glacier County website at https://climatesmartglaciercountry.org/
