Charlo duo lands All-State honors
Charlo Lady Vikings seniors Liev Smith and Carlee Fryberger put a bow on their illustrious basketball careers by earning Class C All-State honors, as voted by coaches.
Both were part of a corps of seniors — along with Brooke Alder, Connor Fryberger and Aryal Love — who finished with a 42-4 over their career in conference play and won four district titles with three trips to divisionals and one trip to state.
The Lady Vikings finished with a 16-1 record this season, with their only loss coming to Manhattan Christian at divisionals.
It’s the second time being named All-State for Smith, and third year as an all-conference pick.
Carlee Fryberger was second on the team in scoring and a pickpocket on defense.
Connor Fryberger, Charlo’s leading scorer and rebounder, was named to the conference’s first team.
The senior trio cumulatively contributed over 1,700 points, 1,000 rebounds and 275 assists over the course of their careers.
Junior Kassidi Cox was named to the second-team. Cox scored more than 100 points and pulled down about 60 rebounds this season.
Two Vikings on postseason list
Charlo senior guard Roper Edwards and sophomore forward Keaton Piedalue were both named to the boys 14C second-team.
Edwards was among the Vikings’ best long-range shooters, and he hit double digits in scoring 10 times this season.
Piedalue surpassed 20 points twice this season, including a career-high 24 against St. Regis.
