Mission sends a dozen to state tennis
The Mission Bulldogs will send 12 athletes to the Class B state tournament this weekend at Missoula.
Four singles players and four doubles teams advanced from last weekend’s divisional tournament at Ronan.
Top Mission boys singles player Rudy King finished second Saturday after a 6-4, 0-6, 2-6 loss to Clay Rouse of Darby. It was King’s lone loss of the tournament.
Mission teammate John Komotios lost to King earlier in the tournament, then went on to win the consolation bracket for a third-place finish.
Sophomores Nic Frost and Erich Morigeau also will represent Mission in boys singles play.
Only Mission and Darby boys teams competed at divisionals.
Mission’s boys doubles teams Lalo Bravo/Kayden Carter and Trevyn Carter/Tre Heath-LaFrombois also advanced to state.
Clark Fork, Mission and Darby girls teams competed at divisionals.
No Mission girls advanced in singles play, but the doubles teams of Madyson Currie/Ahni Umphrey and Emily Morigeau/Pam Frost finished in the top two spots and will play next weekend.
