Tribes raise fire-danger level to moderate on Flathead Reservation
Wildland fire officials with the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes’ Division of Fire have raised the fire-danger warning level within the Flathead Indian Reservation to moderate.
Debris burning with a permit remains open, but the division urges all outdoor burners not to burn on windy days. Anyone burning must have water on scene and a tool suitable for throwing dirt on an escaping fire.
Lake, Missoula and Sanders counties fire resources have been busy this spring with numerous escaped debris burns, the division warned in a May 20 press release.
Those with questions or concerns should contact the Division of Fire at 406-676-2550 or contact Fire Management Specialist C.T. Camel at 406-676-2550 ext. 6407 or ct.camel@cskt.org.
