View from the Library: Let's get digital

We are excited to offer “Meet the Library Apps,” a presentation by our technology librarian, Sierra Ross.

Come meet Sierra at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, when she will discuss the library’s collection of websites and apps providing eBooks, audiobooks, magazines and more. Sierra will introduce you to seven unique digital resources and how to access them on your devices. Whether you’ve dabbled in the apps before or don’t know where to begin, this program will help you explore new ways to take the library home and on the go.

When we went fine free last year we lost our Food for Fines program, so in true Montana spirit we are holding a Cat-Griz Food Drive in November. We will have a Griz cart and a Bobcat cart, and the team with the most pounds donated will win bragging rights (and of course the true winner is the Loaves and Fish Food Pantry). So show your team and community spirit and help us drive out hunger now through Nov. 20.

The library has a Starry Sky Project STEM Kit available for checkout. The Montana Learning Center in Helena is launching the statewide Starry Sky Survey Project, which is part of a larger effort to track light pollution globally. Anyone 18 or older with a library card in good standing can check out the kit, take measurements, and upload findings to the international database “Globe at Night.”

Starting Nov. 26 and running through Dec. 22, all items in the library gift nook are 20% off. We have many great literary themed gifts, perfect to treat yourself or someone else.

Mother Goose programs are held each Monday at 9:15 a.m. in the library meeting room. These programs for babies, toddlers and their caregivers include stories, nursery rhymes and songs. Kiddos, come to the library for a fun morning.

The library will be closed Nov. 11 (Veterans Day) and 25 (Thanksgiving), and will close at 4 p.m. Nov. 24.

The library is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The hours from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday and Friday are reserved for those 65 and older, or those who are immunocompromised. Please wear a mask during this hour.
