Volleyball Roundup: Lady Pirates perfect through conference play

The Polson volleyball team sent their seniors off in style with a sweep of Columbia Falls at home on Thursday night.

Seniors Camilla Foresti, Liz Tolley, Kamdyn Burrough and Turquoise Pierre were honored on the Lady Pirates’ new home court before the team took the match 25-17, 27-25, 25-22.

Polson (9-0, 11-1) got 11 kills from Liz Tolley, six from Mckenna Hanson, and five from Clara Todd. Avery Starr and Grace Simonich had 10 assists each. Foresti had 10 digs to go with four kills against the WildKats (4-6, 7-7)

The Lady Pirates won again Saturday night at Libby to complete a perfect run through conference play. They’ll be the top seed at the Western A divisional tournament Thursday through Saturday at Ronan.

Foresti led the way with 10 kills, two aces and 13 digs in the 25-21, 25-20, 25-16 sweep of the Loggers (6-4, 6-7).

Tolley and Todd added nine kills each, while Starr and Simonich each had 14 assists.

Lady Vikings claim another district title

Charlo improved to 11-1 and knocked off host Superior twice on Friday to capture the District 14-C title.

The Lady Vikings swept Hot Springs 25-12, 25-13, 25-8 Thursday to open the tournament.

Cassidy Cox had 12 kills, while Hayleigh Smith had 13 kills and 11 digs. Katelyn Young contributed 15 digs.

On Friday, Charlo edged Superior in a five-set thriller, 28-26, 25-20, 17-25, 16-25, 15-12. The Bobcats won their way back to the championship match, where Charlo prevailed again three sets to one.

The Lady Vikings open divisional tournament play at 1:30 p.m. Thursday against Ennis at Manhattan Christian.

Lady Bulldogs advance

Host team Mission fell behind but battled back to defeat Plains three sets to two in their opener Thursday at the District 7B tournament. The Lady Bulldogs were swept by powerhouse Thompson Falls 25-11, 25-7, 25-21 in their second match.

They followed with a win over Troy and a loss to Eureka to finish fourth and will be a No. 4 seed at the Class B divisional tournament set for Thursday through Saturday at Thompson Falls.

Mission opens the tournament against Florence-Carlton at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
