Kalispell man dies in Ferndale rollover
A man died Thursday evening in a one-vehicle rollover near Ferndale, the Montana Highway Patrol said.
Lake County Sheriff Don Bell on Monday identified the deceased man as Kyle A. Hawley, 52, of Kalispell.
Hawley was southbound on Montana 83, near mile marker 78, around 7 p.m. when the Chevy 2500 pickup truck he was driving drifted off the right side of the roadway on a curve. The vehicle rolled down a steep embankment and came to a rest against some trees, the Highway Patrol report said. The driver was ejected during the rollover and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Road conditions were bare and dry, according to the initial report.
Bell said the cause and manner of death are still pending investigation, and Hawley's body was taken to the Montana State Crime lab for an autopsy.
