Community Notes: Polson Parade of Lights set for Friday

The 2021 Parade of Lights, hosted by the Polson Business Community, is set to begin at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3 on Main Street in Polson. Along with the parade, there will be concessions, hot chocolate, shopping until 7 p.m. and a visit from Santa. After the parade, Los Angeles-based Brazilian singer/songwriter Caro Pierotto and her band will perform Christmas songs with a Brazilian twist starting at 7:30 p.m. at Polson High School. Visit missionvalleylive.com for more information.

Merry Grinchmas

Help celebrate “Grinchmas” starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4 in the meeting room at the North Lake County Public Library. A ticket to Whoville is required for anyone older than little Cindy Lou Who (who was no more than 2) and can be picked up at the library, or call or email the library to reserve spots. The event includes hot cocoa and cookies, fun crafts and games for kids, a reading of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and possibly an appearance by the Grinch himself. Attendance is limited, so get your tickets early.

St. Ignatius Christmas Carnival

The annual Christmas Carnival in St. Ignatius begins at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4 in the multipurpose room at the school. The event, hosted by the St. Ignatius Chamber of Commerce, includes carnival games, a cake walk, face painting and a visit from Santa. There also will be a raffle for kids and door prizes for adults. Following the carnival, there will be a tree lighting at 5:30 p.m. Bring a nonperishable food item for a raffle ticket and a chance to win a prize. After the tree lighting there will be Christmas carolling and a parade of lights. There will be two trailers and a bus for carolling.

Quilt guild Christmas Party in Ronan

The Mission Mountain Quilt Guild will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7 at 35663 Terrace Lake Road in Ronan for their regular meeting and Christmas party. Please bring wrapped treats to share and enjoy. Also, please bring nonperishable food items to be delivered to St Ignatius, Ronan and Polson food banks.

Advent services at Good Shepherd

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 409 Fourth Ave E, Polson, is hosting Advent worship services Wednesday evenings through Dec. 22. Services include a soup supper at 5:30 p.m. and Holden Evening Prayer worship at 6:15. There also will be Christmas Eve candlelight communion services at 4 and 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 24.

Elks looking to help military families

Mission Valley Elks Lodge 1695 is on a mission to help two military families this upcoming holiday season. The military families must reside in Lake County and must have/had a spouse deployed sometime within the last two years. Please provide a maximum two paragraph letter stating that you meet the requirements, then tell us a little bit about your family. Include a contact phone number. Ronan Parade of Lights

The annual Christmas parade in Ronan, sponsored by the Ronan Area Chamber of Commerce, begins at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17. The parade will go down Main, through town, back on Round Butte, then end at Lights Under the Big Sky. Candy will only be handed out on Main Street, and no walking or biking entries will be allowed beyond Main.
