Polson police investigating toddler's death

The Polson Police Department announced in a press release Oct. 7 that they are investigating the death of a toddler on Sept. 30.

Officer Hazeez Rafiu said police, fire and ambulance personnel responded to a Polson residence for a 1-year-old baby with difficulty breathing. The toddler was taken to Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Polson, then later transported by air to Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane.

Early the next morning the toddler passed away at Sacred Heart Hospital.

The Polson Police Department is conducting a death investigation and has identified a person of interest. No criminal charges had been filed as of Tuesday morning, nor has the manner of death been determined, Rafiu said.
