Evon Louise Ekstedt Sizemore, 78

| October 12, 2021 4:45 PM

Heaven gained a true master angler and a most extraordinary woman Aug. 2, 2021. Our mother, a wife, a grandma, a sister and true friend to everyone, Evon Louise Ekstedt Sizemore, 78, passed away from the Libby Care Center.

Evon was born in Trout Creek, Mont., to Clarence and Emma Ekstedt. She spent her childhood roaming the hills, fishing, hunting and keeping her brothers in check. In 1961, at age 19, she married Forrest Sizemore of Polson after meeting this handsome cowboy in Arlee, where she graduated from high school. Together they spent the next 37 years living on a farm in Valley View, running rodeo stock in the early years and raising beef cattle along with three children. Evon had many careers, spanning from restaurant work to bartending as well as working every machine in a Bee Factory. At age 50 this incredible woman went back to school and became a cosmetologist. In 1998 they retired, sold the farm and moved to Libby. Evon loved this small mountain town, with its great people and fishing spots. The Libby Café Coffee Club and her neighbors meant the world to her.

Evon’s talents ranged from being an expert in fishing, cooking and baking, gardening and canning, arts and crafts, sewing, along with being musically gifted in piano and vocals and a hunter like no other. Evon loved to play all types of games and was a great conversationalist everyone enjoyed. Evon’s greatest JOY and hobby was FISHING … and now the fish are resting too.

Evon was preceded in death by her father and mother, Clarence Ekstedt and Emma Young (Ekstedt) Douglas, and two brothers, Forest and Charles Ekstedt.

Only 17 days after her passing, Evon’s husband of 59 years, Forrest, joined her in eternal rest.

Evon’s legacy lives on in her family’s three children: son Clancy (and Sue Sizemore) and daughters Doris (and Dan Hetchler) and Shawna Dillard; grandchildren Tyrell and Courtney Sizemore, James Sizemore, Brittney Tiensvold, Keith and Tara Hetchler, Naomi Pete and Trevor Reynolds; and great-grandchildren Adlee Jo, Mason, Hayley, Emma, Josie, Natalie and Kalynn Grace.

She is survived by brothers Don (Ellen) Ekstedt, Trueman (Joanne) Ekstedt and Carl (Lois) Ekstedt, along with several nephews and nieces.

Evon’s family will hold a celebration and life memorial later next year in Trout Creek at the “Family Apple Tree.”

THE LITTLEST MOMENTS HAVE NEVER FELT BIGGER.
