Mission Valley treats and tricks amassing for Halloween
Lake County is dressing up for All Hallows Eve, and fun and candy can be found at haunts throughout the valley all weekend. The following is a collection of some local events by town.
Polson
The Showboat Theater is showing “Halloween Kills” through Thursday, Oct. 28. The nightmare isn't over as unstoppable killer Michael Myers escapes. Also showing through the 28th: “Dune,” “No Time to Die,” “The Last Duel” and “Ron’s Gone Wrong.”
The Polson Business Community is inviting downtown businesses to take part in the annual Polson Downtown Trick or Treating event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. The PBC will provide cardboard pumpkins for business fronts to let all those costumed ghouls and goblins know which businesses are participating. The Shoe Lakeview Dining & Spirits is hosting its first Trunk-or-Treat Festival from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday. All trunk hosts are asked to arrive with your “decked-out-trunk” no later than 2:30 p.m. to find your assigned parking space. Be prepared to accommodate approximately 300 children. The Glacier Brewing Co.’s second annual Kids Halloween Carnival is set for 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the brewery, 6 10th Ave. E. There will be outside games and booths for kids, with candy and small prizes.
The Perfect Shot Tavern, 218 Main St., is ready for a spooky good time starting at 9 p.m. Saturday. Halloween costume prizes will be awarded for Best Group, Best Couple, Most Original and Bar Favorite. Dance the night away with DJs Brandon & Betsy.
New Life Church’s Pumpkin Patch Bash Trunk-R-Treat event runs from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Contact Pastor Jason at pastorjason@newlifepolson.com if you would like to register your trunk for the bash at 1414 2nd Street W. next to the middle school. They are also looking to see if any businesses in town would like to be part of it and have a trunk at the event. Trunk hosts will decorate and “man” their trunk. New Life is asking everyone who hosts a trunk to have 3-5 candy bags to start out with. The church will provide additional candy.
Arlee
Jocko Valley Baptist Church, 73382 Coldwater Lane, is holding its annual Fall Festival from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday. The free event includes chili and fry bread, game stations, indoor kids’ activities and candy prizes.
Arlee Trunk or Treat returns from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the Arlee School parking lot. Prizes will be awarded for the top three trunks. To reserve a trunk spot, call 406-880-0850 or email jmbeckham@yahoo.com.
Test your nerves at the Arlee Haunted Trail from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Arlee Community Center walking path. There will be a scary trail and a not-so-scary trail. Experience the outdoor horror that is simply too big to house indoors. As you stroll through the darkness, you will come face to face with your biggest fears. The haunted trail will have an Indigenous scare twist featuring Deer Woman and other iconic Salish creatures.
Charlo/St. Ignatius
Start working on those costumes and get ready to dance the night away with the witches and goblins and ghosts. The annual Ninepipes Lodge Halloween Bash starts at 8 p.m. Saturday, with fun games, prizes and a DJ with $69 hotel rooms. The top prize for best costume will be tickets for two to the sold-out Brawl of the Wild Griz-Cat game in Missoula on Nov. 20.
Ronan
The 325 Bar, 325 Main St. SE, is hosting a Halloween costume contest combined with the August, September and October birthday dart tournament, and even a karaoke contest, beginning at 6 p.m. Friday. Prizes will be awarded for Best Costume, Worst Costume and Best Couples Outfit. $400 in prize money is on the line for the dart tournament. Prizes will be awarded at 1 a.m.
