Come see the bats in Big Arm
Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks invites all for a free guided nighttime hike Friday, Sept. 3, to get a closer look at the bats that surround Flathead Lake. Bring hiking boots, water, backpack, headlamp or flashlight, and a snack to help enjoy your evening. Meet at Big Arm Day-Use Area at 8:30 p.m. for the half-mile hike. Registration is required and can be done by calling (406) 837-3041, ext. 0.
Linderman Art Docent program gearing up
This year’s Art Docent program at Linderman Elementary school kicks off with a fruit shortcake bar and a brief informational meeting from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 8 in the Polson School District conference room at 111 Fourth Ave E (use side door entrance to conference room).
This is for returning Art Docents and anyone who is interested in being a docent or learning more about the program. Please RSVP to Edna at mepitchforks@gmail.com.
Dayton Daze set for Sept. 11
Dayton Daze, an annual family-friendly fundraiser in Dayton, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 11. Festivities kick off with a parade at noon, followed by a rifle raffle, kids’ games, beer garden, free hot dogs and cookies, and a costume contest. This year’s theme: first responders are superheroes. This is the 30th Dayton Daze celebration. Proceeds benefit the Chief Cliff Volunteer Fire Department and Quick Response Unit.
Bread Basket now open Thursdays
The Ronan Bread Basket, 10 Sixth Ave. SW, is now open 4 to 7 p.m. Thursdays in addition to its previous schedule of 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday and Friday.
The nonprofit is funded by local donations as well as free and reduced rates on food from local grocery stores, and the Montana Food Bank Network. It has been serving food to needy families since 1987.
Country jam at Miracle of America
Classic Country Jam, a group of local musicians who hold jam sessions twice a month, will be jamming from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Miracle of America Museum on Sunday, Sept. 5. The group welcomes all players, singers and spectators to join in. They meet the first and third Sunday of each month at the museum. Musicians should bring their own instruments to play.
