Maidens volleyball claims Tip-Off title

After two days crammed full of volleyball action in Ronan, the Maidens came away with top honors at the 13-team Northwest A vs. Southwest A Tip-Off tournament last weekend.

Ronan won eight of 14 sets in pool play, but earned the top seed out of the Northwest going into Saturday’s matches based on point differential. The Maidens swept Southwest No.1 seed Butte Central 25-19, 25-16 in the championship match to claim the title.

Polson emerged from pool play as the Northwest’s No. 2 seed and defeated Dillon 25-17, 24-25, 15-12 Saturday.

Both Lake County teams earned a trip to the class A state tournament last season.

Corvallis and Hamilton will both play matches at Ronan and Polson on Saturday. Prior to that, the Lady Pirates will play their first home game in the new Linderman School gymnasium against Stevensville on Thursday, Sept. 2.
