Volleyball Roundup: Cancellations adding up
Half of Lake County volleyball teams’ six matches from Sept. 7-11 were cancelled due to concerns over exposure to COVID-19.
Arlee’s trip to Missoula Loyola and Mission’s trip to Eureka on Thursday night were both postponed. Arlee will travel to Missoula Loyola on Oct. 12 instead. No makeup date for Mission’s trip to Eureka has been announced.
Also, Charlo’s home match against Superior scheduled for Saturday was cancelled. The Lady Vikings were set to host Noxon for homecoming on Thursday, but the Red Devils cancelled. Instead, Thompson Falls will visit Charlo on Thursday night.
Maidens sweep Mission
Ronan remained unbeaten with a three-set sweep at St. Ignatius on Tuesday, Sept. 7.
LaReina Cordova recorded 18 kills on 24 attempts as the Maidens won 25-10, 25-19, 25-13. Ronan (3-0) has not lost a set during its three regular season matches so far.
Rylie Lindquist had 13 of Ronan’s 36 digs, while Leina Ulutoa had a team-high 20 assists and four aces.
Mission did not provide stats from the match.
The Maidens will face Polson (2-1) at home on Thursday, Sept. 16.
Mission def. Troy 3-2
The Lady Bulldogs (1-3) followed their loss to Ronan with a five-set victory at home Saturday against Troy (0-3).
Mission won 20-25, 25-12, 25-17, 22-25, 15-13. No other information was available at press time,
Mission (1-3) is scheduled to host Thompson Falls on Thursday, Sept. 23.
Florence def. Arlee 3-1
The Warriors took the first set at home against Florence on Sept. 7, but couldn’t keep the momentum and lost 28-26, 11-25, 14-25, 14-25.
Rheid Crawford had 19 digs for the Warriors, while Jerny Crawford recorded 10 kills and 10 digs. Xaria Jacobson had 15 assists.
Arlee’s next scheduled match is Sept. 21 at Thompson Falls.
