Cross Country: Area harriers run well in pair of meets
Among girl runners at the Mission Invitational, Ashtyn Wagner of Polson captured top honors with a first-place finish. Olivia Heiner of Ronan and Adison Carlson along with Halle Heninter placed among the top five. Cedar Hunt of Mission, Guinevere Contreras of Charlo, Saellah Hugs of Ronan and Maddilyn Huffine of Polson all finished among the top fifteen.
Among boy entrants at the Mission Invite, Andrew Rush of Mission crossed the finish line for first place kudos. Fellow Bulldog harriers Zoran LaFrombois along with Robbie Nuila finished among the top five. Three Ronan Chiefs and five Polson Pirates finished among the top fifteeen, all with sub-20s.
At the Mountain West Classic in Missoula this weekend, the top three Lady Pirate harriers and Olivia Heiner of Ronan notched times that would coincide with the top twenty among Class A competition, which bodes well for several to slot in among the top fifteen with postseason competition on the horizon over the next couple of weeks
Due to the sheer size of the field at the Mountain West Classic, higher finishes were displaced by the large field that included Class AA, B and C runners. Olivia Heiner of Ronan ran a personal best in the junior varsity race to finish fourth among the field.
Several area teams are slated to compete at the Thompson Falls Invite this week.
