Football Roundup: Mission falls in barn burner

The Mission Bulldogs put up quite the fight in a shootout at home Friday night against one of the best eight-man football teams in the state.

Flint Creek (3-0), currently ranked No. 1 at 406mtsports.com, rode a big early lead and held off the scrappy Bulldogs (2-2) for a 76-62 victory.

Mission came out swinging during homecoming night and led 26-8 after the first quarter, but were blanked 38-0 in the second and trailed 46-26 at half. The teams combined for 46 points in an epic fourth quarter.

“We competed against them,” first-year Mission head coach Carson Oakland said Monday. “I'm really proud of how they stuck it out. They are a fun group to coach.”

Vikings even record with homecoming win

Charlo quarterback Coyle Nagy threw one TD pass and rushed for three more at the Vikings (2-2) knocked off Choteau 44-34 for homecoming Friday night.

Arlee was originally scheduled to visit Charlo, but cancelled due to illness. Then Victor was scheduled and pulled out before Choteau stepped up and made the trip.

Arlee’s trip to Charlo has been rescheduled for Friday night.
