Flu shots at Polson Farmers Market

Lake County Public Health is offering flu shots from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, at the Polson Farmers Market along Third Avenue East in downtown Polson. Health officials will administer shots and bill your insurance company, so be sure to bring a health insurance card. Seniors should bring Medicare and Part "B" coverage cards.

Time for Pedal to Plate

This year’s Mission Mountain Area Pedal to Plate is set for Saturday, Sept. 25. The day starts and ends at the historic Red Barn in the heart of St. Ignatius. Coffee and a small breakfast morsel prior to embarking on a 30-mile scenic bike tour at the base of the Mission Mountains. This year’s route includes four farm visits. Service day event at Big Arm

Flathead Lake State Park is acknowledging National Public Lands Day with a work party from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 25 at the day-use area of the Big Arm Unit. Volunteers will help prepare new acreage by clearing debris and noxious weeds. Attendees should wear long pants, closed-toe shoes or boots and work gloves. Suicide prevention film, discussion on tap

In acknowledgement of September being Suicide Awareness Month, and the fact that suicide is the second highest cause of death in 18- to 24-year-olds, the Flathead Reservation Human Rights Coalition (FRHRC) is offeringaccess to the film “Wake Up,” which shines a light on suicide prevention and aims to defeat the mental health stigma associated with suicide.

The film will be available online for a 72-hour period from 12:01 a.m. Sept. 26 to 11:59 p.m. Sept. 28. There is a trailer available on YouTube to preview the film. After the three-day viewing, FRHRC will host a panel discussion with local community members on its Facebook page.
