Fall drawdown of Flathead Lake begins
Energy Keepers Inc., a corporation of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes that manages Séliš Ksanka Ql’ispé Dam, formerly Kerr Dam, announced last week that the annual fall drawdown of Flathead Lake has commenced with the end of summer.
Flathead Lake will be slowly lowered to an elevation of no higher than 2,891 feet by the end of October.
Each fall the reservoir is drafted to mitigate the impacts of wave action on shoreline erosion. Over the months of November and December the lake elevation will be slowly reduced to approximately 2,888 feet.
