The Polson boys and girls soccer teams both lost handily to Columbia Falls in conference matches Tuesday, Sept. 21 at Polson High School.

Polson’s Tia Mercer scored to pull the Lady Pirates to within 2-1 midway through the first half, but the Wildkats (5-2, 2-1) answered with four straight goals en route to a 10-4 win.

Mercer scored two more to finish with a hat trick, and Sophia Moderie put in a fourth Polson goal late for the Lady Pirates (3-4-1, 1-3). Ellie Dupuis had 12 saves in net.

Moderie has 16 goals on the season, pushing her career tally to 55. Mercer has 11 goals, while Mady Luikart has scored six.

In boys action, the Pirates (3-4-1, 1-3) were able to move the ball across midfield against the 2020 state runner-up Wildcats (5-2, 2-1), but could only penetrate deep enough for Braydon Luikart to get off three shots on goal in a 10-0 loss. Keeper Kaden Nelson saved nine shots on goal.

Both squads face visiting Bigfork for their Homecoming match Thursday.
