Volleyball Roundup: Maidens dig out victory at C-Falls
The Ronan volleyball team trailed 2-0 on the road Thursday against league foe Columbia Falls (5-3, 2-2) before battling back to win in five sets.
Olivia Clairmont finished with a match-high 14 kills to go with 2.5 blocks and two digs. The Maidens (5-1, 2-1) got 15 assists and 10 digs from Leina Ulutoa. Margaret Cordova had a team-high 20 digs, while LeReina Cordova contributed 17 digs and nine kills.
Two nights earlier the Maidens swept winless Whitefish (0-7, 0-4) in Ronan. Clairmont led the way with 11 kills in that match. LeReina Cordova added nine kills and six digs. She also hit five aces to tie for the team lead with Claire Crist.
The Maidens will travel to Libby (3-3, 3-0) on Thursday, then host Browning (1-4, 0-3) on Saturday.

Lady Vikings sweep Hot Springs
Charlo improved to 2-0, in a season plagued by cancellations, with a 25-11, 25-19, 25-18 win at Hot Springs on Saturday. It was the team’s first match since a sweep of St. Regis on Sept. 4. Thursday’s scheduled trip to Philipsburg was cancelled because no one was available to drive the bus for the road match.
Charlo is set to host St. Regis on Thursday and is slated to compete at the Manhattan Christian School Tournament on Saturday.
Scarlets drop two
Arlee hung tough with Superior in a back-and-forth battle Thursday on the road, but ultimately lost in five sets. The Scarlets (2-3) lost the first set 26-28, then evened the match with a 26-24 win in the second. Superior dominated the third, 13-25. Arlee again evened the match with a 25-18 win in the fourth before falling 15-9 in the deciding set.
Arlee opened the season with two wins but has lost three straight since. Thompson Falls visited Arlee on Sept. 21 and swept the Scarlets 25-8, 25-11, 25-4.
Arlee is set to host Powell County on Saturday.
Lady Bulldogs hit cold streak
Mission dropped to 1-5 on the season with a trio of three-set losses last week.
At Eureka on Sept. 21, the Lions (4-4) won 25-16, 25-13, 25-15. Mission hosted Thompson Falls (5-1) on Thursday, falling 25-17, 25-11, 25-9.
The Lady Bulldogs wrapped up their week with a trip to Deer Lodge on Saturday, where the Lady Wardens defended their home court 5-18, 25-19, 25-13.
Mission is set to visit Plains on Thursday and host Anaconda on Saturday.
