Polson Shooters hosting annual dinner at VFW

The Polson Shooters Association (PSA) will hold its annual membership meeting and dinner on Thursday, April 7 at the Polson VFW, 423 Main St. A social hour featuring a no-host bar will begin at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6:30 and the meeting at 7. Dinner costs $5 per person, or free with new membership or renewal of membership at the door. The meal is a spaghetti dinner with green salad, garlic bread and red or white wine. Individual membership is $30 per year and $40 per year for families, which includes unrestricted access to the range during daylight hours, or 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Free pollinator seed available

The Lake County Conservation District will distribute free pollinator seed from noon to 5 p.m. Friday, April 8, outside the offices of the Flathead Lakers, 213 First St. W. in Polson.

Charlo Tri-tip dinner Saturday

The Charlo-Moiese Volunteer Fire Department’s 28th annual tri-tip dinner auction and raffle begins at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 9 in the gymnasium at Charlo High School. A dinner, including tri-tip roast, hashbrown casserole, salad bar and dessert, runs from 4:30 to 7 p.m. A silent auction will be held from 4:30 to 6:45, and a live auction begins at 7:15.

A raffle drawing caps off the night. Prizes are: half a hog, cut and wrapped; 55-inch LCD TV; Bergara B14 Ridgeline 6.5 PRC; and an Apple iPad Mini. Need not be present to win.

Polson Chamber awards dinner Saturday

The Polson Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual awards banquet, with a theme of “Diamonds and Denim,” on Saturday, April 9 at the Polson Red Lion Inn. Tickets cost $50 per person. A social hour begins at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 and an awards presentation at 8.

Cherry growers to gather

The 84th annual cherry growers meeting will be held Saturday, April 9, at the Flathead Lake Cherry Growers cooperative cherry warehouse located at 34190 S. Finley Point Road. The meeting is open to anyone with an interest in cherry farming. Doors open at 8:30 a.m., and the meeting begins at 9.

Speakers include Dr. Ines Hanrahan and Mark Hanrahan, both highly respected in Washington state for their expertise in the research and development of cherry varieties and innovative practices of horticultural systems. Advance registration is recommended. General admission is $20 per person and includes morning refreshments and lunch.

Pheasants Forever banquet in Ronan

Mission Valley Pheasants Forever will hold its 33rd annual banquet at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 9 at the Ronan Community Center, 300 Third Ave.

Waterfowl event at Wayfarers

Montana state parks will host a “Wonders of Waterfowl” event at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 9 at the Wayfarers Unit of Flathead Lake State Park. The lake is a hub for numerous species of waterfowl. Come and learn basic waterfowl characteristics, tips for identification and other facts about the birds who swim the waters of the Flathead. Beginning to intermediate birders are welcome to meet at the Birch Grove picnic shelter. Bring binoculars if you have them and sturdy hiking shoes. Cost is $4, and reservations are required. Polson to present roads update

The city of Polson will hold a special public hearing at 6 p.m. Monday, April 11, to present a recent study regarding the current status of the city’s municipal water, wastewater and roads.

Earth Day event at SKC

CSKT Tribal Health is co-sponsoring a special climate event for Earth Day, Friday, April 22.

The event, titled “Elevating Indigenous Perspectives for Regeneration and Resilience,” will run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Salish Kootenai College’s Joe McDonald Gymnasium in Pablo. SKC also is a co-sponsor, along with the University of Montana.

Agenda topics include: the CSKT Climate Change Strategic Plan; environmental and human health; mental health and climate change; preventive health and cultural humility; air quality, wildfire smoke and filters; protecting ecosystems; and healthy and sustainable diets.
