Class B/C teams converge for Dave Tripp Memorial in Polson

Track and field athletes from 21 class B and class C schools competed in the 50th annual Dave Tripp Memorial meet at Polson on Friday. The competition included athletes from Lake County teams Arlee, Charlo and Two Eagle River.

The Charlo boys finished eighth in the team standings, while Arlee finished 14th. Jefferson County finished with 175 points to handily win the boys team title. Second-place Seeley-Swan finished with 83 points.

Sean Trehan was the only competitor from Two Eagle River, and he managed a 17th-place finish in the team standings on his own. Trehan was sixth in the 3,200 meters and also competed in the 100 meters for the Eagles.

Arlee finished 13th in the girls standings, three points ahead of Charlo at 16th place. Drummond claimed the girls team title with 97 points, and Seeley-Swan was second with 72 points.

The Scarlets’ Adalyn Jacobson had top 10 finishes in three events. She was second in the long jump, seventh in the 100 meters and sixth in the 200 meters. Arlee’s Shonlea Matt finished sixth in the shot put, and Aida Cote was seventh in the discus.

The Warriors had a pair of third-place finishes. Kendall O'Neill set a personal-best 5 feet, 10 inches in the high jump for third, and Charley Crawford was third in the javelin with a throw of 145 feet, 4 inches. Crawford also finished 13th in the shot put. His teammate, Jake Knoll, finished eighth.

Charlo’s Keaton Piedalue ran the 400 meters in 56 seconds flat to make the podium in second place, the Vikings’ top finish of the meet. Fellow Viking George Ranney had a strong showing in the field events, finishing eighth in the javelin and 13th in a crowded discus field.

The Vikings also got fifth-place finishes from Hayden Hollow in the 800 meters and Hayden Smith in the 1,600 meters.

Lady Viking Kyla Tomlin came in sixth in the javelin and fifth in the pole vault.
