| April 17, 2022 4:00 AM

BOZEMAN — Applications are now being accepted for Montana State University’s Rural Journalism Camp, to be held July 10-15 on the MSU campus. Students from all Montana communities are eligible to apply for this free camp.

Presented by the Yellowstone Writing Project and MSU Continuing, Professional and Lifelong Learning, the weeklong camp immerses rural high school students in the theory and practice of daily journalism. Students will explore relevant issues facing American journalists today and develop skills of the craft by covering a variety of real news events throughout the Bozeman area. Upon leaving camp, students are encouraged to develop a journalistic piece related to their home communities.

The event begins at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 10, and runs through 2 p.m. Friday, July 15. Students will be housed in a residence hall on the MSU campus, and all meals will be provided. The camp is made possible by the MacArthur Foundation and the National Writing Project.

Applications are due by Wednesday, June 1. For more information and to apply, visit ato.montana.edu/ywpjour.
