Polson High School senior Kaden Nelson signed a letter of intent to play football at MSU-Northern in Havre during a special ceremony Monday morning at the high school. Nelson was signed to kick for the Northern Lights of the Frontier Conference.

Nelson played both soccer and football for the Pirates. He earned an all-conference honorable mention last fall in soccer.

Serving as the kicker for the football team, he booted a pair of field goals to go with 43 extra points and was named to the Northwest A all-conference second team.

Longtime Big Sky Conference coaching legend Jerome Souers was hired in January to lead MSU-Northern. Souers served as an assistant at the University of Montana before taking over as head coach at Northern Arizona University.

Souers finished his tenure at Northern Arizona University (NAU) in 2018 as the Big Sky's Conference's all-time leader in victories. He compiled a 123-114 career record, making him the winningest coach in school history.

Nelson plans on studying health and physical education at MSU-Northern.
