Polson ace Katelyn Druyvestein allowed two hits and struck out four over five innings to lead the Lady Pirates to a 10-0 win over Ronan under the lights at Larry Smith Field on Thursday night.

Kiara Sherman got the start for Ronan and struck out four.

The Lady Pirates (2-0, 5-0) scored seven runs in the second inning. First baseman Avery Starr went 2 for 3 from the plate, including the game’s lone homer, and drove in a pair of runs.

Druyvestein had three hits, while Nikki Kendall had a pair of doubles and drove in three runs.

At Libby on Saturday, Druyvestein threw a five-hit shutout and had four hits from her leadoff spot, leading Polson over Libby 10-0.

Courtney Benson got two of Libby’s five hits, including a double, but the Loggers (4-3 overall, 2-1 in league) couldn’t push a run across against the Pirates’ ace. Druyvestein struck out 15 hitters and walked none.

Polson (5-0, 2-0) got all the runs it needed in the first when Turquoise Pierre’s single to left was misplayed for an error, scoring Druyvestein — who’d led off with a single — and Kendall, who had walked. Pierre moved to third on the play and scored on a grounder by Carli Maley to make it 3-0.

Marli hit a two-run single to make it 8-0 in the fourth inning; Druyvestein’s two-run double in the seventh capped the scoring.

Lady Bulldogs get a win at Plains

Izzy Evans struck out five over three innings in relief of starter Payton Smith and homered to lead Mission-Arlee-Charlo (3-0, 6-1) to a 9-2 win at Plains-Hot Springs on April 12. Jerny Crawford had a double and a triple and drove in two runs.

M-A-C was set to host Florence-Carlton on Saturday in a rematch of last season’s class B/C state title game, which the Falcons won 10-4. Saturday’s game was postponed due to inclement weather. The teams will face off at 10 a.m. May 3 at the Lady Griz softball field in Missoula.

Libby edges Ronan late

Ronan’s LouRasia Weatherwax smacked a two-run homer in the seventh inning to tie the game at Libby on April 12, but the Loggers pushed a run across in the bottom half of the inning for a 12-11 win.

Sidney Rusdal doubled twice, drove in three runs and scored the winning tally for Libby.

Ronan (1-4, 0-1) trailed 4-1, 9-2 and 11-9, but kept coming back. The Maidens combined doubles by Kali Benson and Kaydance Santos with three singles and an error to score six times in the sixth, knotting the game at 9-all.

After Weatherwax tied it, Rusdal reached on an error to lead off the Loggers’ half of the seventh. She stole second and came around on Courtney Benson’s single.

Kiara Sherman went the distance for Ronan; only four of her runs allowed were earned.

Weatherwax had three hits, drove in three and scored three times. Benson had three hits and scored twice; Ally Luedtke drove in three and scored twice.

Ronan was scheduled to play Corvallis at the Lady Griz softball field in Missoula on Saturday, but poor weather conditions forced a postponement. No make-up date had been announced as of Tuesday afternoon.
