Tennis Roundup: Ronan hosts Mission, Whitefish

A depleted Ronan tennis team was swept by Whitefish and earned a split with Mission on its home courts Thursday.

Ronan was missing several players who were on the road for the district music festival.

Dillon PrettyOnTop earned the only boys singles victory of the day for Ronan, a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Mission’s Erich Morigeau.

The Mission and Ronan girls split singles matches, with Mission’s Laine Keast and Natalie Hesler getting wins, along with Ronan’s Angie Paca and Evelyn Frencz.

In doubles play, Mission’s Ahni Umphrie and Madison Currie defeated Alyssa PrettyOnTop and Kaileen Howard 7-5, 6-3. Ronan also forfeited a second doubles match.

The Mission boys got wins from Rudy King and Kayden Carter in singles play, and Ronan forfeited a pair of doubles matches.

In afternoon matches, Whitefish swept Ronan, with the Lady Bulldogs winning 6-0 and the boys winning 4-0.

Polson’s match at Columbia Falls on April 14 was postponed and rescheduled for April 21. Polson also was scheduled to compete at the Cut Bank Invitational on Friday and Saturday, but winter weather canceled the event.

Mission was set to follow up its matches at Ronan with a trip to Darby on Friday, but that match also was canceled due to poor weather conditions.
