Tennis Roundup: Polson, C-Falls dual nearly washed out

COLUMBIA FALLS — Rainy weather mostly foiled the Columbia Falls and Polson tennis dual Thursday, April 21, but a few matches finished before the storm rolled in.

Torrin Ellis and Noah Trosper were boys singles winners for Polson (the other two matches were rained out). Clara Todd and Piper Hoxie also won their singles matches.

Wildkats Grace Gedlaman and Alyssa Williams won the only girls’ doubles matches that were played, and Cade Morgan and Cody Schweikert prevailed at No. 1 boys doubles.

Polson’s Tate Barentsen and Colter Wilson won at No. 2 boys doubles.

Boys singles: Torrin Ellis (Polson) def. Orion Barta 6-1, 6-1; Noah Trosper (Polson) def. Logan Heupel 6-3, 7-5; Jax Ramage (CF) vs Chris Lake (Polson) not played due to rain; Will Pickard (CF) vs Casey Trosper (Polson) not played due to rain.

Boys doubles: Cade Morgan/Cody Schweikert (CF) def. Trent Wilson/Owen McElwee 6-4, 6-3; Tate Barentsen/Colter Wilson (Polson) def. Dale Blickhan/Caleb Donsbach 6-0, 7-5; Silas Ypma/Connor Zumalt (CF) vs. Otto Lund/Brock Henriksen (Polson) not played due to rain.

Girls singles: Clara Todd (Polson) def. Cloey Ramage 6-1, 6-0; Piper Hoxie (Polson) def. Mackenzie Nelson 6-2, 6-1; Zoey Byrd (CF) vs Hope Morrison (Polson) not played due to rain; Abbey Biel (CF) vs. Karli Owen (Polson) not played due to rain.

Girls doubles: Grace Gedlaman/Alyssa Williams (CF) def. Sierra Lundeen/Elizabeth Tolley 6-2, 5-7, 6-1; Lexi Oberholtzer/Zerita McAtee (CF) vs. Camilla Foresti/Katie Smith (Polson) not played due to rain; Anne Lybbert/Clare Stewart (CF) vs. Lucy Violett/Summer Newman (Polson) not played due to rain.

Mission sweeps Troy

Mission took the road trip to Troy on Friday and left without a single loss on the day. Rudy King and Erich Morgeau each notched singles wins for the boys. Tre Heath-LaFrambois and Kayden Carter won the only boys doubles match of the day.

The girls played eight-game pro sets, according to Mission head coach Cecelia Koskela.

Boys singles: Rudy King (MIS) def. Winter Sedler 6-0, 5-7, 6-4; Erich Morgeau (MIS) def. Lucas Peterson 6-4, 6-0.

Boys doubles: Tre Heath-LaFrambois and Kayden Carter (MIS) def. Winter Sedler and Lucas Peterson 6-1, 6-2.

Girls singles: Lainie Keast (MIS) def. Abby Osburn 8-4; Allyson Umphrey (MIS) def. Devynn Cummings 8-1; Natalie Helser (MIS) def. SIerra Gardner 8-2; Evelyn Ferencz (MIS) def. SIerra Gardner 8-1.

Girls doubles: Madyson Currie and Ahni Umphrey (MIS) def. Abby Osburn and Devynn Cummings 8-1; Emily Morigeau and Jazmin Druffel (MIS) def. Abby Osburn and Devynn Cummings 8-4.
