Golf: Polson Pirates win Ronan Invitational

RONAN – Polson’s Torrin Ellis shot a blistering 71 to easily win the boy’s individual competition during the Ronan Invitational at Mission Mountain Golf Course on Thursday, hosted by Ronan High School.

Ellis’s performance helped the Pirates win the tournament with a team score of 301, twenty-two strokes ahead of Corvallis. Hamilton was third with a 327, followed by Whitefish with 339 points in fourth.

For the Pirates, Hunter Emerson was third individually with a 76, both Christian Lund and Espn Fisher tied for sixth place with a 77 and Carson Hupka carded a ninth place 78.

Colter Cornwell carded an 87 to lead the tourney host Ronan Chiefs followed by Nash Niemeyer with a score of 88. Also for the Chiefs, Connor Durglo shot a 91, Trey Samsel posted a 92, and Cooper Clary shot a 97.

On the ladies’ side of the score card, Lady Pirate Ashley Maki earned low medalist honors shooting an 81. Clare Konen tied for second place with an 88 followed by Kylee Siefert in seventh place with a score of 97.

The Ronan Maidens finished third in the team standings with 442 points. Alyssa Pretty On Top was the top Maiden finisher shooting a twelfth place 102. Rounding out the top Maiden finishers were Hanna Lytton (108), Mady Evelo (110), and Emma Smith (122).
