Local wrestlers clash at Mission Valley Championships
All of Lake County’s wrestling squads were represented Saturday during the Mission Valley Championships at St. Ignatius. The event was one of the few times all season that all of the county’s teams competed together, and it served as a tune-up heading into the postseason.
Canyon Sargent gave the host team Bulldogs their only title after winning the 170-pound championship match by fall over Xavier Wood of Conrad. Sargent won all five of his matches by pin.
Also placing for Mission-Charlo were Kody Dillard, second at 103; Isaiah Fields, second at 132; Codiak Killorn, third at 145; Charley Adams, third at 152; Shayden Friedlander, fifth at 152; Chance Bockman, fourth at 160; Deago Hostetler, second at 182; George Ranney, third at 182; and Noah Anderson, fourth at 182.
Katie Dolence claimed Ronan’s only title of the day, finishing first in the girls’ 132-pound division with a pin of Deer Lodge’s Katie Johnson. Jackson Davis (285), Koy McAllister (126) and JJ Beh (145-b) each finished second in their respective divisions.
Also earning a medal for Ronan were: Ian Dillard, third at 103; Hunter Hume-Clutterbuck fourth at 113; Jairyn Krause, sixth at 132; Fortino Silva, third at 138; Dominique McKay, fifth at 138; Peterson Watkins, fourth at 145; Julian Strait, sixth at 145; Brady Hout, fifth at 160; Cole Dalke, sixth at 160; Issac Rodriguez, fifth at 182; and Tirza TwoTeeth, fifth in the girls’ 205.
Polson’s Ryley Knutson won four matches by pin and received a bye in his fifth match to claim the title for the Pirates at 103 pounds. Casey Trosper also took the title for the 145-b boys division for Polson.
The Pirates also got medals from Braedon Iliff, fifth at 103; Alex Clairmont, third at 120; Izayus Prewett, fourth at 120; Brian Lyles, fourth at 126; Micha Craig, third at 132; Jaren Keene, second at 170; and Lincoln Burrough, third at 205.
Arlee had six wrestlers earn medals. RJ Knoll went 5-0 to claim the title at 160 pounds. The Warriors also got a second-place finish from Tyrel Thomas at 120 and third-place finishes from Jeremy Martin (126) and Brody Smith (113). Levi Conover was fifth at 120, and Andrew Knoll was sixth at 152.
Saturday’s field also included wrestlers from Anaconda, Bigfork, Conrad, Eureka, Plains-Hot Springs, Deer Lodge, Clark Fork and Three Forks.
