Girls Roundup: Lady Vikings take care of business
The Charlo girls continued to pillage the 14C conference with a pair of wins over the weekend that pushed their season record to 16-1 overall and 10-0 in league play.
Kassidi Cox scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in a 54-31 home win over Hot Springs on Friday. Charlo held Hot Springs to one point in the second period and led 24-11 at the half.
Mila Hawk had 10 points and nine assists, while Seeley McDonald scored nine.
Cox led the way with 12 points and six rebounds Saturday night, when Charlo held on for a 45-37 road win at Alberton-Superior.
Charlo led 19-17 at half, then built a nine-point lead.
Charlo wraps up the regular season with a boys/girls doubleheader at home Saturday against Seeley-Swan.
Mission falls to Florence
The Lady Bulldogs (10-6) hit the road Thursday to take on Florence-Carlton (10-6), with the Falcons coming away with a 68-47 victory.
Gabby Smith scored 12 points and had five steals for Mission. Izzy Evans scored 11 points, and Madyson Currie added eight.
The Falcons’ Kassidy Yeoman led all scorers with 24 points and pulled down 11 rebounds.
Wardens win thriller at Arlee
Deer Lodge’s Mary Hansen hit a key 3-pointer and the Lady Wardens hit their free throws down the stretch to pull off a 47-45 overtime win at Arlee on Thursday.
The Scarlets (0-7, 3-12) trailed by 10 points at the half but managed to close the gap in the third period.
Ravn Pearson scored a career-high 24 points for Arlee. Xaria Jacobson scored seven points, while Addy Jacobson and Princess Bolen each scored five.
The Scarlets hosted Florence-Carlton on Friday and lost 63-23. Jacobson was Arlee’s top scorer in that game, finishing with six points. McKirah Fisher scored four in the loss.
Maidens sting Stevi
Dani Coffman scored 11 points to lead Ronan over Stevensville at home Saturday. LaReina Cordova finished with 10 points and nine rebounds, and Leina Ulutoa added seven points and 10 rebounds.
The Maidens had a 40-33 rebounding edge and notched 23 steals.
Lady Pirates fall at Whitefish
Turquoise Pierre scored nine points and grabbed four rebounds as Polson took a 37-25 road loss at Whitefish on Feb. 1.
Jaivin BadBear finished with four points and four rebounds for Polson, and Mckenna Hanson contributed four points, five rebounds and four steals.
The Lady Pirates led 12-4 after the first period, but were outscored 15-1 in the second and never caught up.
Lady Eagles drop two
Dayani Piapot scored 16 of Two Eagle River School’s 24 points in a 60-24 loss at St. Regis on Friday. TaRae GoodLuck and Myranda Trahan each scored three.
Back home on Saturday, Sarah Gardipe scored 12 points in a 58-27 loss to Hot Springs. Goodluck scored 10 points in the loss.
Katelyn Christensen scored 30 for Hot Springs.
