Polson's Hertz claims second in 200 freestyle at state swim meet

Hardin’s Caleb Mark edged Polson swimmer Gus Hertz by one-tenth of a second to claim the class A/B boys 200 yard freestyle title at last weekend’s state meet at Great Falls. Third-place finisher Adam Schrader of Columbia Falls came in a full second behind Hertz, who also finished third in the 100 backstroke.

Hertz also finished third in the 200 backstroke, just ahead of teammate William Wyman, who was fourth.

Sloan Lachlan earned fourth-place finishes in both the 200 individual medley and the 500 freestyle for the Polson boys, who finished fifth in the team standings.

Aspen McKee swam to a fifth-place finish in the girls’ 500 freestyle.
